Sometimes, the real value of a broadcast news producer is the ability to bring all of the compelling elements of a story together in a deadline-driven, highly competitive environment and to insure all of the other team members are on the same page; that they share the ultimate vision of what that story should be.
This is a short example of how I work my magic; not in front of the camera, but on the desk and on the phone: gathering the elements which included convincing a shaken and reluctant eyewitness to pull over and talk to KSNT and no one else.
It is a skill sharpened during years of being in moments such as these, be it for local news or for booking and field producing for network shows–GMA, Today, etc.
